CAPOEIRA CLASSES

NEW CAPOEIRA class with " Mestre Samuca da Bahia" starting on Saturday, April 6 from 10:00 - 11:30 am here at the Brazilian Center. Do not miss the opportunity to learn CAPOEIRA, a brazilian type of martial art that combines elements of dance and music. It was developed in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves with Brazilian native influences beginning in the 16th century. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power, speed, and leverage for leg sweeps. I'll see you here at the Brazilian Center

Come joing us at at the Brazilian Center with Julio Remelexo's classes every Monday 7:10 - 9pm, and join us in the San Francisco Carnaval Parade. Julio will be teaching "Bahia Beat" from 7-8 pm and "Brazilian Drumming" from 8- 9 pm. You can't miss it. Julio Remelexo is a drummer originally from the Afro-Bloco Ilê Aiyê in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He is the founder, director and singer for Tambores Julio Remelexo and has played with famous musicians all over the world. Julio founded Tambores Julio Remelexo in 2004 as an all women’s percussion bloco here in the U.S. similar to those of Salvador, Brazil. Tambores Julio Remelexo is a lively, energetic group known for its rhythms, dancing while playing, and unique tricks with instruments. Julio Remelexo performs all over the US and in Brazil.

Do not miss the new class "Dumbek Fundamentals 101" with Jeremiah M. Soto of
Solace here at the Brazilian Center and Store in Sacramento.
Classes begin
Tuesdays, March 19th Through April 23rd from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm

  This
class will be a 6 week course focused on basic technique in the Classical Arabic
Style. You will learn the 3 fundamental hits, Dum, Right Handed Tek and Left
Handed Tek. Students will also learn the “Basic 8” rhythms essential for any
beginning drummer and strengthening exercises. This class is open to beginning
drummers and dancers wanting to familiarize themselves with the rhythms of the
Middle East.
