G.R.E.S. Unidos da Capital is Sacramento’s premier samba and Brazilian percussion performing arts group, rooted in the vibrant traditions of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnaval and reimagined for California’s capital. Founded and led by Saara Burga and master percussionist Victor Vasquez, Unidos da Capital offers a powerful blend of Afro-Brazilian rhythm, movement, and cultural expression.

“Unidos,” meaning “united,” reflects the group’s mission: to build joyful, inclusive communities through the shared traditions of Brazil. With performances spanning parades, festivals, and stage events alike, the ensemble brings the spirit of the bateria (drum corps) and passistas (dancers) from the streets of Brazil to the streets of Sacramento and surrounding areas.

Unidos da Capital engages in festivals and community events ranging from local markets to full-on carnivals like Carnaval San Francisco, representing the capital city’s branch of Brazilian culture and flair.
